46 Technology -- From Loyal Servant to Royal Pain!

Thursday, September 23, 2010

I hope I won’t be cyber-bullied for taking a long and uninformed break from posting. I’ve been getting mails asking for an updated blog. Started off with “Hey am eagerly waiting for your new post!” to “Ding Dong! Anybody there?” to “:-? Are you even alive ?” and the last one I read was “Hey you know what?? Seems your soul is stuck in your blog—it isn’t posting anything new but yes, made some changes to the look!” I was like /omg Guys, please don’t cyber kill me! It’s been just one week that I posted and you guys get my soul out in one week?? 8-| I may be out of news with my blog, but yes; am never out of touch or reach with my machine! Anyone who reads my Personal Blog with any continuity may make out that apart from food, water & oxygen; I need a computer and power supply to live. Shelter comes next :|.

When I write this, I wonder—How many of you can live without a machine? I eracked my brain out and used up all my grey matter to travel back. As far as my memory goes, since almost past seven years, there has not been a single day when I didn’t touch my machine. Yes, there were days when I didn’t see or talk to my mom for whole day, when I didn’t eat or sleep and going out for an evening walk is a forgotten episode of my life now! I love my machine so very dearly! :x and why not? My friends live in my computer and now computer is my family’s new home. From the room across the same roof, my brother pings me asking if I had my breakfast. And I stare at my lappy wondering have I not been eating so long that I need to break my fast?!? Should I?
Gone are the days when my bro runs to me saying its breakfast time or dinner time. Naah… It’s not all about money making, there is something added to it. If this machine springs me out few notes for being with it (or rather her; more than often, she acts more intelligent than me) 24x7, it makes some sense to be loyal to her. But there is something more to her. The other day, when my dad was working on something and asked me how much 78, 114 and 37 adds up to be, I took no time to click on calculator that’s  hooked up on taskbar and my grandmother took no time to answer 229. That made me think – I thought this machine was supposed to be my servant; but no, am a slave of this machine. Since my school days, the very common essay writing topic was “technology- a boon or curse?” and the most common topic to be elocuted or debated on.
I always loved how advances in technology helped me – I can shop from home, find best deals, e-pay my bills!! But lest did I realize that I became an e-person and living an e-life. On my birthday, all my friends sent me flowers, cakes and hugs!! Flowers that wont smell but can live for hundred or more years until I delete them. Cakes that won’t taste but can be seen whenever you are hungry. Hugs that I can’t feel but I can have them any moment am low. Should I love my machine because it tells me how much my friends love me or should I hate my machine because I have a brain which tells me more than half of them are auto generated because their machines have calendars which grabbed my birth date from my profile and send me hugs and gifts on every damn occasion and the sender is not even aware of it!!
Oh Yeah! I must tweet what am doing!
I know I scream of this in my posts now and then that I hate being an e-person. Am afraid, because I may bump into an e-guy whom I may feel “oh he’s damn intelligent, professional and practical!!” and fall in love with. Just to realize later that he’s actually a BOT. :-o Worse, I have friends who e-loves and have e-kids.  Don’t ever ask me what’s the software with which they e-loved to make e-babies. Honestly, I donno!!;) Am happy when technology helps me in talking to my friends who live on the other side of the planet. But I hate it when they say “I see and talk to you daily, what’s the need to come down?” I wanna travel back. Wanna scream no more technology advances!
I have been reading how people get addicted to tweet. (Touch wood, that made me never ever consider twitter) I’ve read cases where someone lost her love of life, and tweeted that moments after her boyfriend’s death. And reportedly a mother tweeted demise of her child, the same day! Many confessed that while they have a million Myspace friends and is a Twitter addict, she/he does not have any friends in real life! In that revelation is a sad fact. Social networking sites via cell phones, computers, and other electronic devices have the power to pull us together, but also have the power to create a very lonely individual. We have become slaves to technology and we all love it, don’t we?:>
I wanna see those days when bed time was 9 pm and wake-up time was 5 am. When whole family prays together for well-being. When exercise was not something to be done in gym or with equipment, but by cleaning home, washing dishes and clothes. When there’s some festival, no one needs to remind you because that’s in the atmosphere. 8->
Hey Friends, Bye for now, I need to rush because my cousin is getting married in some other part of the same planet and she arranged a live show for all of us, in Skype. I need to attend the wedding, so sweet of her that she invited me and so sweet of me that I took time off to attend her wedding, isn’t it? I hope it’s not an e-marriage :-ss Lemme see!
Bye for now, be back soon!
/bye

welcome back anvilu >:D</// i was dying to c ur new post..and finally i got to c it, thnq for posting ^:)^...this machine has become my unseparatable part too..i feel like whn everyone in this world is busy and and have no time to c me this machine will always have time for me..always does only want i want it to do/show...this machine helps me to stay in contact with all my frds and family, howfar they may be////but i know, the joy we experience in meeting with family/frds (personally meeting them and sharing some chat) is way beyond any good times we can have thru this machine....some long time ago, when someone puts a question "how much is 2+2= ?" i used to stretch my two fingers of each hand \m/ + \m/ count and add them to get the answer//i used my brain and body to work something..but now, when someone puts the same question at me, first thing come to my mind is "start/run/calc"//i m using some unknown fellows brain(who created this technology).. well i dont knwo if we can get back those day...but we can try to get back themm :):)..have fun.....

Hmmmmmmm atlast u posted ;)) we all were w8ing for ur next post ;)) U told many right things about the machine (computer) and the technology . Lol, yes ,many of us spend much time on our machines ( me for 15 hours and sleep for 8 hours, which means only while sleeping i wont be on my machine, lol). Hmm nothing like slaves but we do love technology a lot. We should try to take the advantages of the technology and leave aside the disadvantages.. Thanks for a short and sweet post Anvitha. Enjoy ur cousin's marriage .Come back soon with another beautiful and wonderful post. We all will be w8ing ;))

Hey Anvitha,Nice blog and nice design. my blog is http://songofgod.blogspot.com/ today morning, I woke up and saw that my blog doesnot display its background and many pics cannot be displayed and have a "image not available" pic in that place. I see that you made many changes and designed your blog. am upset and tensed because whole page looks dirty now. Please help me. what should I do to get my blog back to normal?

Anvitha said...

Hi God Fearing. I saw your blog. Good one. As for pics and background, you might have taken the urls from photobucket.com or tinypic.com. They are user specific and once when the user changes their account settings from public to private, or if they remove the pic from their account, its not displayed in our blog since the image is no longer available for public use. Hence, its always better to save all your pics, open an account with photobucket and save them as public in your own account so that the images are available as long as you dont delete them yourself. Thats what I generally do to avoid the weird look to my blog when some unknown guy deletes his own account. Hope this helps.

God Fearing said...

So, what should I do now? I understood what you said, but I dont know what to do now since I lost all the pics :(

Anvitha said...

@ God Fearing.
Go to google images and surf for all the apt images. Or if you have them saved in your computer, its better. Dont worry, when you surf you will get rather better and apt images that may make your blog look better. When you get and gather all the pics you need, save them all in a file. Go to photobucket.com , create an account and upload all the pics in your account. By default, the account is set as public. So, dont change anything in settings. Once uploaded, you will get url of the pic under "direct link" option thats there below every pic . Thats the url you need for your code :) Done!! Hope this helps.

Anonymous said...

wow...Good Post

Anvitha said...

Hi Chnadan, I really dont remember where did I get the clock from. I was surfing through some blogs, liked it and grabbed the code from someone else's blog. lol. But yes, you can do one thing. right click on my blog, click on view page source and hit ctrl+F to search for "clock". Look for the html code, grab it, and apply it as widget in your blog :D .

technology slaves..lol. Yes even I read the case in newspaper where one mother tweeted her kid's death the same day. This shows how addicted she is to twitter. Shame on humanity. The pic reminds me of my brother in US. The pic may make us laugh, but its true. My brother tweets it when he is shitting too. I wish I could kill him.

Technology is just a science. Its we human that make misuse of it. Its developed for our betterment. When few people get addicted to it or make misuse of it, whole technology is blamed. With increase in technology, many surgeries are performed, many medicines are invented. It makes life very simple and makes us think broad. If one becoming a slave to technology, its a personal choice. Science and Technology or Social and philosophy, all the fields have 2 choices. A positive and a negative one. If a person choose to be a negative one jump in to become a slave of technology, no one can help him. Why blame whole technology because of such people?

Nice post and wonderful blog. where did you get the glittering picture from? Please anvitha, please tell me how to get that glittering picture of good-morning coffee cup with angels, for you teddy-bear and the golden birds. I liked it very much. please give the image to me. I want to put in my blog. please.

Anvitha said...

Thnks for the comment parthasarathy garu. Yeah, I totally agree with you. Technology by itself isn't a boon or curse. Its on how we make use of it :).

Anvitha said...

Hey Sneha Thnks for the comment. Thats not one picture. They are 3 different pics put together as one image. There are many glittering pics that may suite your blog theme. Go to tiny pics or photobucket or google images, get the url and put it in your blog. So, you love glitters too? lol, I have a spcl frnd, who hates glittering pics. He always wanted me to remove them from my blog, but I never listen to him. Am a typical girl too...lol :P
